Oops :)

I am over the half way mark and this is still only my third post. I am behind! To get caught up, here are pictures from my last couple ultrasounds.

This is at 11 weeks. Baby is looking right at us:

At this point, the baby is about an inch and a half long and only weighs a quarter of an ounce, about the size of a lime.

Here is another u/s picture a week later, at 12 weeks:

This is one of my favorites because it looks so detailed! At this u/s they were measuring Baby's bones and s/he was very cooperative - must have been sleeping.

We spent Thanksgiving in Mass., with the Beckermans this year. This is me just barely starting to show at 14 weeks. At this point, all the muscles of my abdomen were so sore, I could barely lift my legs to get dressed.

It was also around this time that I felt the first little flutters of baby moving. It felt like the fin of a fish (like a beta fish) barely touched the inside of my stomach. This was still a little early to be feeling any movement, especially for a first pregnancy, but I'm positive it was baby because I had never felt anything like it.

And here is a few days later. I was at work and Alysa asked me to text a picture of the tiny baby bump, so here I am in the bathroom at work, 15 weeks. Baby is about the size of a naval orange in there:

The following week, we got a new niece! Elizabeth Grace was born on Sunday, December 4, 2011. So exciting that these little cousins will only be about 6 months apart. Here is the first pic we saw of Libby just before we left to go meet her:

Here are a couple pics from 16 weeks. Still wearing regular clothes, but you can see when I lift my shirt that there is a small bump in there:

This was also the point that I started to officially feel some kicking! I wouldn't call it kicking, actually, more like tiny little pokes. And sometimes it wasn't even poking, just the feeling of something squirming around in there. This was super fun for me, but I really wanted PLB to be able to get in on it. I was starting to feel bad for him since he wasn't able to feel anything, obviously.

At 17 weeks, I also turned 27! For my birthday, Peter planned a dinner with James and Kate and Mike and Lisa, at Camille's in Providence, and I finally had a bump to show off. Here are a few pics from my bday night:

I am still a little behind and have a few more pics to share, but it's Sunday night and I am TIRED. Next week I will cover our last ultrasound, Christmas and then bring us up to date on Baby's little nursery. PLB is traveling for work today and tomorrow, so tonight it's just me and Baby! (And the dogs of course)

10 Weeks

Wow...I can't believe it's been over a month since my first post. I have had the thought a few times to post an update, but honestly have been too tired to care. But I am feeling more and more excited! Yesterday was my first OB appointment and I feel like it gave me a little burst of energy - because I am SO excited.

The doctor thought I might be a week behind because of my ovulation date, so she wasn't sure if we would be able to hear the heartbeat. We listened for it anyway, and it was the tiniest, most precious sound :) I didn't think I would feel emotional about it, but it definitely made things feel more real and I am amazed that there is a tiny person in there. Not only that, but it is half me and half Peter? This is nuts!

Here is Baby's heartbeat, at 167 beats per minute. I could see the teeny little flash where the heart was beating.

And here is Baby Beckerman! Measuring at just about 10 weeks like we originally thought.

Sooooo cool! It was actually a lot clearer in person and I could see the full outline and shape of the legs and feet - amazing. While sitting there watching Baby decided to put on a show. He/she started kicking both legs out at the same time - HILARIOUS, I loved it. I am totally leaning towards BOY now and these pics could be of a little tiny Cohen! Otherwise, I think we might have a crazy girl on our hands.

Here are a few pics from the last few weeks:

I went to Maine to visit with Loo :)

At this point, I was 5 weeks and baby was about the size of a sesame seed

We celebrated our third anniversary on 9/13 :)

And bought this while waiting for our table (PLB is a huge Snoopy fan):

At 7 weeks, Baby Becks was the size of a blueberry:

Here I am at 8 weeks, pretty much not showing :)

And again, at 10 weeks, totally bloated, but still not looking much different. This pic was taken at Mike and Lisa's, just before dinner, and by this time I was totally exhausted.

So that's about it. Everything seems to be going well. I have been feeling tired and totally nauseous, but happy to have only puked once so far! Overall, I am super excited and can't wait to meet this little babe. Only 30 weeks to go!

It's Official!

Baby Beckerman is on its way, currently the size of a sweet pea :)

For my memory's sake, a few background details:  I went off birth control in May so I would have a few months to adjust and be able to track my regular schedule.  We decided we would try NOT to get pregnant until at least August, in order to time it right so that I can finish school and graduate in December (yay!).  By August we decided we were ready to 'see what happens'.  I hadn't planned to get crazy and make sure we were doing things by the book, but I did buy a $10 pack of ovulation sticks, probably more because it sounded like fun to pee in a cup and play with test sticks ;)  So August 31st I got a positive ovulation test (note: this was two bold lines.  The test specifically says one bold line and one faded line = negative).  A couple weeks later...My cycle had not really been regular so I wasn't sure when exactly to expect my period.  Thanks to Carolyn, I learned that things like stress wouldn't actually make your period late, but rather delays when you ovulate and then your period will always come 12-16 days after date of ovulation.  So I knew that it should come at any point between September 12th and 16th at the latest.  I decided I would take a test on Tuesday, the 13th, our third anniversary :) And this is what I got:

So you'll notice that this packaging does not show what it means if one line is faded.  That's because it doesn't matter! If there are two lines, it's positive :)  I didn't know this until later... I texted this picture to my mom to see if it was positive and she wasn't sure either.  I obviously showed Peter the stick and I don't think he even gave it a second thought.  I'm not even sure what I was thinking...I guess I didn't think I was, though thought there was a chance, and decided to test again that Friday.  Well, after talking to Carolyn about it all day at work (she is also trying :) I couldn't wait and ended up buying a real test for first thing Thursday morning:

No doubts this time :) It was 5am (our early morning schedule this semester) so I ran to our bedroom to wake Peter up. His first words: "No way."  ...yes. way...  His next words: "I'm so scared."  My words: "You were on board with this, yes?"  Haha awesome.  For the record, he did warm up to it on the drive to my office and is officially excited ;)

That's him at 6am, not fully awake and in complete shock.  But I am looking happy :)  This one's better:

So far I have been feeling SUPER tired, more than usual, which I didn't think was possible after the last two years of grad school.  Oh. But. It. Is. I am 6 weeks today and officially feeling nauseous (like right now as I'm typing).  Maybe it has to do with the sandwhich I just ate? Or maybe this is the start of morning sickness, at 6 weeks on the dot. Here's to hoping it's the turkey and swiss. Regardless, it is all for my little sweet pea ;)

BTW, how many more times could I use :) and ;) ??
